Madrigal Meal

At Christmas time of 2023, upon the completion of Anchor Point’s main auditorium and the availability to expand our performances to a larger stage, we sought to dip our toes into the daunting world of dinner theatre. Our community graciously offered to support our endeavour and let us take on creating a new show to be presented as the holiday family meal. We wrote a tale inspired by a Christmas tradition dating back to the Renaissance, called a Madrigal. A Madrigal was a feast where the courses were intermingled with stories, music, and entertainment. In our production, our audience followed the story of Lady Serena, the young Mistress of Revels on her first night to ever host this grand feast. She is just about to make her debut, when an unexpected guest artist arrives and throws the largest spanner into her perfect plans. In these scenes, we meet the unexpected guest and watch how Lady Serena’s night goes from bad to worse.
